He strives to help students develop their problem-solving abilities by strengthening fundamental skills and using logical reasoning. In his free time, Alonso enjoys being outdoors, lately that means playing soccer and running as he trains for his first marathon.

Sasha Schtein graduated from UCLA with a degree in Applied Mathematics and Bioinformatics and is currently pursuing a master’s in education. Ronnie graduated from Rowan University with degrees in both Biomedical Engineering and Chemistry. She recently defended her Ph.D. in Biomedical Engineering at Brown before moving to LA to start a research position at USC. She first discovered her love of chemistry and biology during her freshman year and has been tutoring ever since. No matter how complex the problem is, Ronnie always strived to help the student connect to fundamental concepts in order to logically think through the solution. When Ronnie isn’t researching or tutoring, she loves to hike, craft, and hang out with her two cats!

Derek is an undergraduate at UC Santa Barbara currently majoring in Computer Science, with a minor likely in chemistry. For over 3 years, he has tutored all levels of chemistry and biology, as well as SAT/ACT prep. Derek’s strengths include connecting with students and guiding them through concepts in easy-to-understand terms. He has led students to success on the SAT, as well as personally scored a 1570, which included a perfect 800 on the math section. He took part in the US National Chemistry Olympiad competition, a test designed to cover challenging high school and college-level topics, where he was 1 of just 13 students to advance. In his free time, Derek is an avid runner and loves to explore the trails along the beach in Santa Barbara.

Simon is a current Mathematics/Economics student at UCLA. In addition to studying math, he is involved in research with the mathematics department. He has always been passionate about math and problem solving, spending much of his childhood doing Rubik’s Cubes, puzzles, and math competitions. Simon is social and collaborative and excels in connecting with students on a personal level, always striving to find ways to ensure each student understands what is being taught, often using creative approaches. His favorite part of tutoring is helping students reach the point where they feel confident enough to independently approach, and solve, problems. In Simon’s free time he likes to waterski, hike, rock climb and play board games.

Stephen currently serves as a Biostatistician for Yale University’s School of Medicine and the US government. He earned his Master’s degree in Statistics in 2021 following a Bachelor’s degree in Biostatistics. His work has been published in research journals, and he has presented at numerous academic conferences. Stephen has extensive teaching experience at both the high school and college levels, along with several years as a tutor. His favorite part of tutoring is being able to take topics and apply them to students’ personal interests. Outside of work, he enjoys watching sports and cooking.

While attending university at University of California at Santa Cruz, her study of physics included years of in-depth math and science courses. After college, she worked in Silicon Valley at a tech firm, then transitioned to her love of tutoring by starting, and growing, A+ Math Tutoring.  Kathie’s goal is to assist families in providing tutors that will help students reach their highest potential. By taking the time to know each of her tutors’ styles and personalities, as well as the learning style and background of each new student, she is able to carefully match each student with the ideal tutor.
