Keren holds a Bachelor of Science in Applied Mathematics from UCLA, a Master’s from Harvard Graduate School of Education, and a deep love and passion for teaching math. Keren worked as a lead classroom high school teacher for 3 years. In addition to classroom teaching, Keren has been a private tutor for 7 years. Keren is dedicated to inspiring students in mathematics, and making them feel capable and uplifted. She is patient, fun, and well-versed in different learning styles of students. Outside of math, Keren is a gym enthusiast, distance runner, and musical theater nerd.

Alonso completed his degree in mathematics at the University of California, Santa Barbara, along with a minor in Science and Math Education. Following his undergraduate studies, he obtained his secondary teaching credentials. His passion for mathematics stems from a love for problem solving and making connections of mathematical concepts. He strives to help students develop their problem-solving abilities by strengthening fundamental skills and using logical reasoning. In his free time, Alonso enjoys being outdoors, lately that means playing soccer and running as he trains for his first marathon.

Ronnie

Tutor

Ronnie graduated from Rowan University with degrees in both Biomedical Engineering and Chemistry. She recently defended her Ph.D. in Biomedical Engineering at Brown before moving to LA to start a research position at USC. She first discovered her love of chemistry and biology during her freshman year and has been tutoring ever since. No matter how complex the problem is, Ronnie always strived to help the student connect to fundamental concepts in order to logically think through the solution. When Ronnie isn’t researching or tutoring, she loves to hike, craft, and hang out with her two cats!

Simon is a currently pursuing his Master’s degree in math at Columbia University and holds a math/economics degree from UCLA. He has always been passionate about problem solving, enjoying Rubik’s Cubes, puzzles, and math competitions from a young age. Simon is social and collaborative, excelling at connecting with students personally. His favorite part of tutoring is helping students become confident enough to approach problems independently. In Simon’s free time he likes to waterski, hike, rock climb and play board games.

Hector is a UCLA graduate with a degree in Mathematics for Teaching. He has over 9 years of experience tutoring and is our most-requested tutor! He excels at carefully breaking down the logic of problem-solving in order to see where a student is struggling or excelling. He has a strong passion for developing students’ confidence in their own abilities to interpret problems. This allows them to better conceptualize, and fully understand, problems. In his free time, Hector enjoys playing tennis and discovering new places to eat in Los Angeles.

Sofia graduated from Syracuse University and specializes in writing, English, and essay support, including the SAT. Her experience includes neurodivergent students, as well as gifted students. Outside the classroom, Sofia leads an active life, including soccer, running, hiking and singing.

Josh graduated from Oberlin College and Conservatory with degrees in math and piano performance. In addition to tutoring, he spent 5 years teaching high school math at the Ecole d’Humanité, an international boarding school in Switzerland. When tutoring, he focuses on creating a comfortable and productive learning atmosphere with his students to remove the anxiety often associated with math. He particularly enjoys the way that mathematical ideas build on each other, and believes that breaking complicated concepts down into simple, step-by-step processes can make math fun and accessible to anyone! In his free time, he’s a passionate hiker who loves finding new, beautiful places in nature, and also plays soccer, chess, and piano whenever he has the chance.

Alex holds a Bachelor’s degree in Applied Mathematics and Statistics from Cal Poly Pomona and later earned his Master’s degree in Computational and Applied Mathematics from Cal State Fullerton. He brings five years of tutoring experience to the team. In addition to tutoring, Alex spent two years as a Teaching Associate, teaching a variety of courses. His favorite part of tutoring is seeing students fill in the gaps in their understanding over multiple sessions, becoming confident, independent problem-solvers. Outside of his educational and work endeavors, Alex enjoys challenging hikes, watching movies at the cinema, and traveling.

Derek

Derek is an undergraduate at UC Santa Barbara currently majoring in Computer Science, with a minor likely in chemistry. For over 3 years, he has tutored chemistry and biology, as well as SAT/ACT prep. Derek’s strengths include connecting with students and guiding them with ease. He has led students to success on the SAT, as well as holds a personal score of 1570, which included a perfect 800 on the math section. He participated in the US National Chemistry Olympiad competition, a test covering challenging topics, where he was 1 of just 13 students to advance. In his free time, Derek is an avid runner and loves to explore the trails along the beach in Santa Barbara.
